Four ideas to kick-start your email marketing in 2010
If the New Year has you thinking about new strategies for your email campaigns, here are a few tips from Emma to help you kick-start your email marketing efforts in 2010.
Give yourself a check-up.
Start by checking out your open and click-through rates from 2009, and evaluate which content and strategies worked (and which didn’t). Or consider a survey to ask your readers what they’d like to see more of.
Tidy up your signup.
Is the email signup form on your website easy to find? Do you eventually use all the information you ask people to provide, or does it gather dust in a database? And once people subscribe, do you meet their interest instantly with an automatically triggered welcome email? This concludes the question-asking portion of the tips.
Ask your audience for more information.
You’re getting ready to launch your long-awaited “Congratulations, you’re from Ohio” campaign when you realize that you’ve never bothered to ask where your subscribers call home. Now’s a good time to ask your audience to update their preferences or profile with the information you’d like to tailor and target with.
Reach out to those inactive members.
Moment of honesty, chap: there are people lurking among your subscriber list who haven’t opened your emails in six months, a year, or (gasp) ever. Reach out to them with a special offer or an invitation to renew their subscription.
Emma’s smart, stylish Web-based service helps you do all the things mentioned in this tip (and a bit more to boot). To learn more and start the conversation about your email efforts in 2010, visit www.myemma.com.
