According to a survey by Jobvite, in 2010, 92% of companies used social networking sites to find and attract candidates this year. Of this group, 86% used LinkedIn, 60% use Facebook and 50% use Twitter for recruiting.

Because social networking sites are relied on so extensively by human resource personnel and recruiters, it's critical that you have a great online presence in order to compete in the market. Learn how to use LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter - and more - to help you in your job search. Do more than the "basics" - find out how to incorporate social networking as an integral part of the process.

According to a 2010 survey by Microsoft, 79% of recruiters and hiring managers reviewed online information posted to social networking sites and blogs to screen job candidates. Nearly 90% of the time, online reviews were used to verify information on a candidate. Even more importantly, 70% of hiring managers and recruiters have rejected a candidate based on their online reputation. You may have lost out on a great opportunity...and never even known it!

Not looking for a job right now? It's always a good thing to have a stellar online presence. In Jobvite's 2009 survey, 77% of the HR and recruiting respondents reported that they use social networks to reach passive candidates who are not actively seeking employment.
