Is your marketing to government broken?

Colorado PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center) is a nonprofit organization providing no-cost services to Colorado businesses that are pursuing government contracts. They educate and assist any size Colorado business to do business with any level of government (federal, state, local). Marketing to government buyers, finding their requirement users, and knowing the decision makers is different than commercial marketing. PTAC Executive Director, Ken Knapp, will address the best and worst marketing approaches for businesses to use with government organizations.

Ken began his Air Force career at the US Air Force Academy and graduated with the class of 1978.

Ken served 26 years in Air Force logistics with specific focus on munitions operations as well as international security and the DoD acquisition process. Highlights of his career include twice selected as commander of large munitions squadrons, serving two years on the NATO Inspector General team, serving as the Air Force & Navy section chief at the US Embassy in Bahrain, then culminating his career as Dean of the Air Force School of Systems & Logistics, Air Force Institute of Technology, Dayton, OH.

Ken is a product of the Dept of Defense education system having graduated from the Air Force Academy then earning Master degrees from the Air Force Institute of Technology in International Logistics and from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in National Security. In addition, Ken is Level II certified in the DoD Acquisition Professional Development Program.

Since retiring from the Air Force in 2004, Ken worked 5 years for various defense industry firms in Strategy & Business Development roles. In 2009 he accepted a position as Deputy Director of the newly created Colorado PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center) and in January 2012 was appointed the position of Executive Director. In this position, he helps educate and assist Colorado businesses (small, medium, or large) who want to do business with federal, state and local governments. This nonprofit corporation is funded through federal, state and private grant money and is a no-cost resource to all Colorado businesses.
